Renting accommodation

You may have noticed I haven't been putting up much posts recently. This is because my Youtube uploading has been few and far between and that's down to me spending my time on making my new website.

It's been a difficult time with the current economic climate. I've made hardly anything from my music. That's probably because I give most of it away for free. So I decided to dedicate a good deal of time in developing an idea I had a number of years ago. I can finally report that I've finished the site and I sent it live about a week ago. Sure, there might be a bug or two floating around, but I've tested it well and i'm very proud of my achievement. I did it to try and provide me with the means to live and the freedom to develop my music.

I'll give you some details about my new site first, then the gumph on my Youtube statistics.

The site is called Megabunk and it's basically a contact site for accommodation and events. I've seen some similar sites about that charge commissions and take bookings for those with rooms to rent. My site does not handle bookings. It's a contact site. So it's completely free to use. The search facilities are geared towards accommodation and work in conjunction with google maps. I'm very pleased with how it all works. I also added a calender so that people could switch days on and off if they wanted to manage available dates on the site. I also thought about how the site could be used. Someone might like the fact that it has internal messaging on the site, but it can also be used to just provide a profile with a link to a website. I've allowed for up to 10 profiles per host user. This is going to be great for those that have more than one place to rent. They can have different profiles pointing to the same email address.

Before I put the site live, I spent a lot of time making instructional videos and the total viewing time of them all comes to over an hour.I combined the videos into a playlist, and as is usual with my posts, I'm going to give a link to the vids:

It's advisable to at least watch the introduction vid before going to the site. You can go directly to the site at the following link, and remember that I wrote the whole thing myself (including a few small open source functions that I adapted).

Megabunk

I can make the site free because I'm putting advertising on the site to raise some funds. There aren't many overheads (just me myself and I) so I'm hoping to plough anything spare back into improving the site and promoting it. Commercial TV stations have been providing free television for many years, and have been earning their money through advertising. That's how I believe it should be.

So, if you know anyone with a hotel, villa, apartment, flat, caravan etc. Even if they have a spare room to rent for a week in the summer, then please let them know about Megabunk. It wont cost them anything but a little time in setting up a profile, and that will hopefully bring them more enquiries and/or visitors to their website. It's a bit like a free entry into an accommodation search engine. Oh that goes for any event organisers as well :)

Now to the business of my Jeffstunes youtube channel. You're going to see a bit of a jump from the last post because it was so long ago. So here are the numbers.

My channel views are now 50,976

Subscribers have gone over two thousand at 2,209 and the total viewing figures for all my videos is a heady 1,463,739.

There are 5 music videos I've uploaded since my last post so I'm hopefully going to be telling you about those in the next few weeks.
