My first Neil Diamond song
Neil diamond, is one of the singers that my voice has been compared to in some of my songs. It's funny really. I never try to sing like anyone else but myself. It's just that there are likenesses in our tones.
The next video I uploaded was a Neil Diamond anthem (and probably still is). Cracklin Rosie. This was the first of many Neil songs for me on Youtube. This song was my introduction to Neil Diamond.
For those of you that like your numbers and figures. This was Neil's first big hit in the UK. Getting to the number 3 spot in 1970.
The sound quality is lacking in this video as well, so I apologise in advance. Here goes.
I've covered a number of Neil Diamond songs on Youtube now. You can see all of these and other videos of mine at:
Be happy.
Elvis Costello and She.
Charles Aznavour hit the number one spot in England in 1974 with She. A lot of people loved this song, but at the time, I wasn't too keen on it. I thought it was far too slushy.
Then in 1999. Elvis Costello did a cover of the song, and I loved it straight away. Perhaps it was just his voice that made it for me, or maybe my musical tastes had changed. I don't think so. I still wasn't too keen on the Charles Aznavour version.
Which led me to doing a version of the song, more in keeping with the Elvis Costello version.
and you can take a look at it here.
This one went down quite well on Youtube. Made me happy anyway :)
Well that's about it for this post. Until next time :)
Having a go at a Coldplay song.
My fourth number uploaded to Youtube is a great song by a band I love. Coldplay. It's a song called Dont Panic from their album Parachutes.
This was my first Coldplay purchase. I reckon the best 3 songs on the CD are Don't panic, Trouble and Yellow.
So to the song. It's not very long, but as with most coldplay songs. They created such a rounded sound with quite a simple setup, and Chris's vocals are very expressive.
The sound on this one is quite low as well, but you can get a good idea if you turn the levels up. Anyway. Here it is. My version of Dont Panic.
And here ends the post for my fourth video :)
And now a Snow Patrol song.
I wanted my third video to be a newer song, so I opted for singing Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.
I purchased two of their albums in the last 2 years. There were quite a few tracks that I liked but Chasing Cars stood out in front. I blurted it out a few times on Karaoke, and got some really nice comments. Well, I was happy with that. This one seemed like a good option for my third video.
The sound levels in my videos were starting to bother me. They were far too low, though that didn't seem to affect the positive comments, and my subscriber count was starting to rise quite nicely.
I carried on regardless, and you can check out my effort below.
That's number three out of the way :)
My attempt at Losing my religion
So on to the second video I uploaded on Youtube. I got a few positive comments on the first one, though I must admit that the first coment was an un-intelligent expression. Probably from a child. Though I wasn't deterred. I've seen a real variety of performances on there. From pretty damn good to absolutely dire!
I'm going to be posting up all the videos so far, and then I'll keep updating every time I upload a new one. So I'm playing catch up at the moment.
If you want to check out what I've done so far you can go and visit my channel which is:
I moved the camera position for the second video. I've kept it that position ever since. I might shock people one day and change it again :)
Anyway. My second video was of a song called "Losing my religion" by the great R.E.M. I like a lot of their songs, and like singing some of them too. Check out my version of that classic hit.
There are so many songs that I have sung in the past, and It's difficult to choose which one I want to do next. I've got too much choice!!.
That's about it for now. I'll be posting again soon. If you can't wait then go and take a look at my Youtube channel. The link is near the top of the post.
All the best.
