Jeffstunes's Blog

All of the time

The third of my three Original songs in a row. This is a song called "All of the time". It's another slow number.

I have to say that virtually all of my Original songs have been pretty well received on Youtube. I've had loads of positive comments.

Take a look at "All of the time".

Original song by Jeffstunes - All of the time

A few people on Youtube said that they wouldn't mind doing a cover version of one of my songs, and that gave me an Idea. I thought it would be a good idea to encourage people to do that. It would have the effect of spreading my music to a wider audience.

There is an issue for a lot of singers though. Most of them cannot make the music themselves.

So I made instrumental versions of my songs on Youtube, and put them up for download on a web page. Then I put the link to that page in my descriptions for my videos.

Here is that link:

So if anyone reading my Blogs likes any of my songs, and fancies having a go at singing them, you now can!!

The one thing I do ask though is that I am credited in some way. A link to my Youtube channel would be ideal.

Now to a Youtube Statisitics update.

Just before that. I have an observation about the figures. There seems to be an inconsistency in the way the numbers move. Sometimes they go fast, and at other times they go slow. The total video views are pretty consistent, but the Subscriptions seem to be erratic. Oh well. Just an observation.

I now have 413 Subscribers.

Channel views are at 10,566.

Total video views are at 118,438.

Now for some more cover versions. I actually pick up my guitar!!

Original. Escape

This is the 2nd Original of mine, in a row, out of three. This one is called "Escape". This song has been liked by a lot of people. Like the others before, this song was written a few years ago.

It's all about being tired of chasing a relationship.

Here it is:

Original song - Escape - by Jeffstunes

Well, the Youtube stats have jumped, and I've passed another milestone.

My subscribers have leapt over the 400 barrier and now stand at 402.

The channel views are also up sharply to 10,301.

Finally the total viewing figures are at 115,368.

The net post will cover the third of three original songs in a row.

Video 41. Convey

This is the 1st song of 3 Original songs on the bounce. It title is "Convey". I wrote the song with the sole intention of making the first showing of it on Youtube.

The good feedback on all my Original material has pleased me. There's been a lot of positivity. This song not so much about what people say. It's more about how they say it.

So here it is. Convey:

Youtube update.

On my last post there wasn't an increase at all in the subscribers. This time I managed 1, so that takes me to 393.

Channel views up to 10,111.

Views for all videos are 111,527. They are still flowing very well.

Coming up next. The second of three Original songs.

More from Neil.

This is the second of the two consecutive Neil songs. This was one of his most well known songs, and my Youtube vid has done very well. It's viewing figures are just about double that of the previous video.

It's title is "Hello again". If you know a bit about Neil Diamond, and you are not familiar with this song, then what planet have you been on? :)

Here is my version:

Me singing Hello Again by Neil Diamond

OK. No more Neil Diamond for a while now. The following 3 posts are all songs written by me.

Back to the Youtube figures. Here's the latest stats.

For the first time between posts. There hasn't been an increase in Subscribers. The figure still stands at 392.

However, my channel viewings have passed the 10k target and are now at 10,064.

Video views now stand at 110,754.

Until next time :)

Neil Diamond and September Morn

This is the first of 2 Neil Diamond numbers. This is one of my favourites to sing. It's an excellent tune going by the name of "September morn".

These two Neil Diamond songs were requested a while ago. My request list is so big now, that I have had to stop accepting them. It will take over a year for me to go through all the songs, currently on my list!

Take a look at my version of September Morn' Below:

Me singing September Morn by Neil Diamond

More Neil in the next post.

Now for the state of play on my Youtube account.

Well, I've got more subscribers again. The total is 392. 8 more to go to 400.

The Channel views are tantalisingly close to my next target at 9,996. Give it an hour or two for Youtube to update, and it'll be there.

Total video views = 109,854. Still going strong.

Next post. The second Neil number :)

Bad moon rising

Now for something from "Creedence clearwater revival", and the fantastic "Bad moon rising". I've always loved this song, and this gave me the chance to use some of the effects available on my sound card. It allows me to use two effects together so I used Standard Reverb and Slap Back Echo. The second of those effects is very much like that used in the original.

This is my attempt

Moving on to my Youtube figures. I am fast approaching two milestones.

The subscribers are getting very close to the 400 target and are currently on 389.

My Channel views are also approaching the 10,000 target and currently stand at 9,917. I think the Channel views will get there first.

The total video views are at 108,960. They seem to be settling to an average of 1,000 a day.

It's back to Neil Diamond for the next 2 posts. These were requests fulfilled from a while back.

Eternal and I am blessed

This is a song I recorded a few years ago. It's different to the other cover versions, in that i didn't sit in front of the camera and sing it. There are a few people that really love this version, because of the male vocals, so that was a good enough reason to upload it to Youtube.

This was the first one I managed to get working in stereo, and with better sound quality. I would normally upload an MPG video. This time I converted the MPG file to Flash video, whilst tweaking some settings. This made uploading the file a lot speedier, because the video file was a lot smaller in size.

The tune is "I am blessed", by a band called "Eternal".

Here is my rendition.

Me singing I am blessed by Eternal

There's a nice long note hold that I was pleased with in that song :)

Now for some Youtube numbers.

Subscribers up to 384.

The Channel views are moving well and are currently at 9,827.

The video views are steadily increasing. The total on those now is 108,198.

The next tune is a massive song from the sixties, and a little use of sound card effects :)

Dialling you on my phone

Here's another one of my Original songs.

Like some of the others. This was also written a few years ago. It was part of a large batch of songs I wrote in a 2 month period. A few of my friends really liked this one.

It's called "Anybody there"

It's about someone who is feeling desperately lonely, and tries to contact people, but without luck. This makes the feel worse.

Check it out:

Original song by Jeffstunes - Anybody there

So how has the progress been going wiyth the statistics on Youtube.

2 more subscribers since the last post. I'm now on 382.

The channle views are now up to 9,730. That's a pretty good increase since the last post.

My overall video views are now at 107,229.

Next. A cover I recorded a few years ago, which I decided to put up.

A Paul McCartney number

Now for a special cover version. My friend, Beatleologist on Youtube, asked me to try this number. I couldn't get the backing for it anywhere, so I re-created the music, but differently.

It was "Here today" by Paul McCartney. Now Paul McCartney wrote this as a tribute to John Lennon. Paul's version was centred on Guitar. I had a great idea. What if I remake the music, but instead of using guitar. Using a piano that sounded like John Lennon's piano in Imagine.

I got together a series of pictures for the video. As it hadn't been too long since George Harrison had passed away, I decided to put pictures of the both of them in the video.

Check out the results of my effort below.

My version of Here Today by Paul McCartney

This was also a very popular video of mine. It's had 60 ratings to date :)

Now for my Youtube statistics.

I've had an increase of subscribers to 380 now.

My channel has now been viewed 9,633 times.

My overall videos views are now at 105,634. It's going at the rate of nearly 1,000 a day!

Coming up next. Another original song from me :)

One of the best from Coldplay

This next number is probably one of songs on Youtube that has received the most attention. It's one of my all time favourites, and one of the best tunes that Coldplay ever produced. The totally awesome "Fix you".

Here is my rendition of a song I can't praise highly enough:

Me singing Fix You by Coldplay

As I said. This video has done quite well. Here are the stats on it, up until I put this post out:

55 Ratings.

2,281 Viewings.

Favourited 25 times.

My overall progress through Youtube has continued to be positive with a lift in subscribers again to 376. The 400 target is not too far away now.

The video views are up to 103,970.

The channel views are steadily climbing too and currently stand at 9,500. Only 500 more to get to the magic ten thousand :)

And for my next post. It was a special request, by a friend on Youtube. It is a cover of a poignant song, which I re-recorded the music for, to give it more impact.

More on that later :)

You do something to me

Now on to video 31. A hit in the UK in 1995 for Paul weller. The name of the tune is "You do something to me"

Before I move on to that I'm going to just mention the current state of play on my channel and give a link to it.

I've just uploaded the 56th video which is a number called "How to save a life" by "The fray". All fans of Gray's Anatomy will probably know this song well. It's the featured video on my channel at the moment and you can see it by visiting my channel below.

Now back to the order of play for this post.

Check out my version of the Paul Weller song below.

Me singing You do something to me by Paul Weller

I've had a good weekend for new subscribers.

I now have 372 subscribers.

At last my video viewings passed the 100,000 mark on friday, and currently stand at 102,181.

Next, a Coldplay song that went down really well.

Video 30. Why dont you ask

So it's on to the big round figure of 30 in videos.

This is one of my own compositions from over a year ago. It's called "Why don't you ask".

This one is more up tempo in relation to the other songs of mine. I was curious to know what it would sound like if I used a vibraphone as the hook in an indie song, and the results are in this song.

The tune is about two people. One of them wants to know about the other person and is always asking them how they feel about things. However, the other person doesn't do the same. They just make assumptions. Their assumptions are wrong.

Have a listen:

Original song by Jeffstunes - Why don't you ask

Now some statistics.

I've had an increase in my subscribers again.

The current total is 354.

The views for all my videos has just passed 99,000. At the current rate. They should make the 100,000 during friday.

There have been 9402 chanel views. The next magic figure for this is of course 10,000. This might take a few weeks.

Back to cover versions for the next video. It's a Paul Weller number :)

A Bobby Goldsboro song

Wohoo. Almost to the 30th vid. This is my twenty ninth.

This song climbed to number 9 in 1973 in the UK charts. It's a sloppy song called "Summer (The first time)",Recorded by Bobby Goldsboro. I always associated this song with a film called "Summer of 42". One I enjoyed watching. I was a story about a boy during the war, finding out about his sexuality, and falling for a war widow.

My rendition of this song is below.

Me singing Summer (The first time) by Bobby Goldsboro.

There's been a bit more activity with my subscribers again. They have increased. So here is the latest tally up until the time of this post.

Subscribers = 352

Just a few more days and I should pass the magic 100,000 viewings for my video.I'm asking myself if that's worthy of a celebration or not :)

The next video after this is going to be one of my original songs, which contains a bit of experimentation.

So until then....

Butch and sundance

There are plenty of tunes that please me but this next song is one of the most effective. It's the old classic song "Raindrops keep falling on my head". The version I got to know was the BJ Thomas version.

Some of you will know that this song was used in the film "Butch cassidy and the sundance kid". It's a really uplifting song to do.

A lot of people on Youtube found it quite uplifting. Several of them decided to record their own version in response to my video :)

This is my version:

Me singing Raindrops keep faling on my head

My subscribers have gone up 2 since my last posting.

I now have a total of 349.

My video views are also nearing the landmark figure of 100,000. This should hopefully clock over in the next few days. My channel views are also approaching a landmark figure of 10,000. It should be too long before that happens. Maybe a week or two.

The next song is a 70's classic from Bobby Goldsboro.

Just to slip this skin

Now the 27th Jeffstunes video which is a tune from an excellent film going by the name of Philadelphia. The title of the tune is "Streets of philadelphia" and was sung by that very well known artist, Bruce Springsteen.

It's another one of those highly emotional numbers. I got to hear the song first before I saw the film. What a sad film.

This is my interpretation of this wonderful song.

Me singing Streets of Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen

I thought it migh be a good idea to include my Youtube subscriber count in every post from now on. To see how it's hopefully progressing.

So here we go.

My subscriber count on Youtube to date is: 347

So my next big target is 400. Let's see how long it takes to get there :)

When I look in your eyes

In the mid nineties a great band going by the name of The Connells had a hit in the UK with a fantastic song. The song got to number 14 in the charts. It's the song I'm singing in this next video.

The wonderful song I'm going on about is 74/75.

I can't work out why the Connells didn't have more success because I thought this was a brilliant song.

Maybe you will know it. Here is my rendition.

My cover of 74/75 by the Connells

Next. Another song, that is actually not a Neil Diamond song :)
