Imagination takes me clean.
Here is the second of two collaborations with "Ulf Pettersson". That excellent Swedish composer. The title of this one is "I wanna see". This is a song I wrote as a bit of a parody, but then Ulf heard it and requested to do the music for me. I accepted of course, and this is what he came up with. I think it beats my original music hands down.
As with the previous 4 songs. This one does not feature on my album "Sight Or Sound".
I look forward to possibly getting involved in a few more collabs with ulf. He is a musician I have a lot of respect for. Ulf is quite taken by my songs as well. Unfortunately we are both tied up with our own tasks at the moment. Ulf is busy building a catalogue for Film and Television, and I'm busy writing and collaborating with other musicians. So it's possible that you might have already heard some of his compositions :)
Here's the song I did with him. "I wanna see":

Here's a bit more about my Dads life.
My Dad. Part 9.
I pointed out before that my dad knew a number of questionable people. I had a variety of friends before my father was a part of my world. It transpired that there was a possibility that some of the friends I made might not have been purely by chance. I always treat people as I find them. If they are civil to me, then I will be civil to them. I was told on a few occasions that I should not mix with some of the people that I met. Though whilst I went around with them, there was never any trouble. Not in my company. I found it amusing how people feared some of the individuals I kept company with. I can honestly say that that is something I never felt. There was never a reason to fear. My attitude was that if anything threatening came along, then you dealt with it. You shouldn't live in fear. Why worry about something that hasn't happened? It turned out that my father knew all of those questionable individuals. Even some of those I'd worked with when I left school.
I'm going to tell you a tale of something that reportedly went on at Cowgate road. To protect me from any recriminations, I'm going to say that this is alleged. This is something that my father recounted. He can't be sued because he is now dead. He wanted me to tell this. You may well have heard of the welsh singing star "Tom Jones". Well it involves him. I'm going to assume you've heard of him. I was told that he had sexual intercourse with a girl that was only 14 years old in the field next to Cowgate Road. The girl became pregnant. I'm not sure what happened to the child, but I think it was lost because the girl died of leukemia. It's likely that she gave consent, but that kind of act was still illegal. I'm not sure if the story ever got out, but it's quite an astounding story, because he was an adult at the time. I would assume that it was not unusual for something like this to happen in the sixties. It may not come as any surprise that certain members of my family are not very keen on Tom Jones.
To be continued.......
There's been a good deal of interest in my album release. It's still being rolled out to internet shops, and wont be available in all of them for a couple of months. It's currently on CDBaby, Itunes and Amazon. You can find out more on my website at:
There's a link to Ulf's site and you'll also find some free song downloads there too!!
It's time for those Youtube numbers again.
It's getting pretty exciting with the subscribers now. There are currently 992. Almost at the thousand mark.
The channel views have raced forward to 23,296, and the viewing figures for all my videos combined is 397,648. They have seen an increase in their rate in the last several days.
And finally....
That's the batch of originals out of the way. Now for a few cover songs. The next one will be "Lost" by "Coldplay". A song that's been requested of me quite a few times over the last month.

Co-written with Ulf Pettersson
This is the fourth out of five original songs on the trot. It started life as an instrumental. Which was penned by a fantastic Swedish musician called "Ulf Pettersson". When I heard the instrumental I could imagine words being sung over the top of it. So I asked if he wouldn't mind me having a go a turning it into a vocal song. He was keen on the idea. Ulf liked a lot of the stuff I did on my own, and there's a twist on one of those coming soon. Getting back to the focus of this one though. It's entitled "Swings and roundabouts". Being single has it's advantages. There are advantages to being hooked up too. Some of those don't mix, and this is the view of someone facing that dilemma in a relationship.
This is the result of our efforts.

Here is the continuation of my father's story.
My Dad. Part 8.
I didn't know about my dad's addiction to alcohol when I first met him. I should have really recognised it by the nickname that everybody had for him, "Woodsy". I was never that curious, and at that time I was unaware that he earned the name for his liking for "Woods Navy Rum". His favourite flavour was Rum. If thr truth be known though. Anything that contained lots of alcohol would have gone down well. So that's how I found and met my father. Before I knew all the stories about him. A lot of people might frown upon his life, and yes, he did some bad things. The one thing that cannot be denied is that he was biologically my father. I will never be ashamed to call him that. After all, he helped give me life.
During the sixties, drink was flowing freely, and so were drugs. Drugs were not my Dad's choice of vice. Drink won that hands down. My father did dabble in drugs though. In the sixties it wasa popular pastime, and he liked to be on the scene. I'm not sure of the quantities and names of various drugs he took, but I do know that he was fond of cannabis sessions. A few years ago I sat down to watch a film with my dad. There was a scene of pot smoking, and my father smiled and giggled whilst watching it. He once told me a story of when individuals from the band "The Rolling Stones" were doing the same thing in his mother's bedroom. Now that, I can believe. Somehow :) Apparently, a member of that band resides within a few miles from me.
I will say that my poor grandmother was blissfully unaware of all these goings on. Remember that she thought her son was a wonderful boy, full of integrity. Although she didn't know these things. Just about everybody else did.
There's more parts to this, and a celeb bit. It's a real shocker. So if you are a Tom Jones fan then be prepared. That's all I can say.

The sum total of my video views is 387,663.
I'm going to throw another one in here. I've had 5,952 comments on all my videos (excluding my replies).
The next song is the last in the chain of 5 originals, and it's another one with Ulf. I'm also going to tell you a little bit more about Ulf.
She's a timebomb ticking
Here is the 3rd in the series of 5 original songs. This one is called "She freaks". This song was the result of a jamming session with my good friend "Steve morgan". I ha written a rough template for the tune previously, and by the conclusion of events, we had a complete song. A composition about two partners who were very different. One partner was laid back and relaxed, and the other would go into a rage at the drop of a pin. I'm sure that this will seem familiar to some. The situation is reversible between man and woman. Take a listen and make your own mind up.
Jeff Edwards and Steve Morgan - She freaks
It's another tune that didn't make the album, but it's still one I like a lot. Maybe because there was such a large choice, and the production wasn't really up to scratch. However, 15 songs did make it, and you can listen to sound bytes of those at my website:
One other thing. I recently went to the wedding of a good friend on the Isle of man. It will take a lot to beat that experience. I thought I'd provide a link to some of the many, many photograps taken on that weekend. I'm in one or two of them. There's one of me almost being blown of my feet by the stiff breeze on top of Snaefel. The pics are here :)
My Dad. Part 7.
Nan always adored my father. Regardless of all the things he did. Everybody else in the family looked like a saint compared to him. He was just likeable. I was unaware of his existence until I was 18 years old. After I found out, I pondered over it for a little while and then left it until I was 21. I traced him through Lily, my Grandmother. Someone else I hadn't met. Once I discovered where she lived, I just went straight up to the front door. I didn't really know what to think as I was waiting outside the door. I'd seen all these long lost reunions on T.V. and they were all emotional, but I have to say that I felt nothing like that. Only curiosity. As the door swung open, there stood a short white haired old lady who greeted me with a hello. My response was something like "Hello, are you Lily?". She told me that she was that person. I uttered "I'm John's son. Jeffrey". She looked, smiled and invited me into her home. That was surprising. The neighbourhood she lived in wasn't the most secure I'd seen. I could have been an unsavoury character, but she just invited me inside. Maybe she saw the resemblance. I have been informed on more than one occasion that my father and I look alike. So out came the tea and biscuits, and all the old photographs. During my visit, she called my father on the telephone to arrange a meeting with me in a local public house. Amazing with hindsight because he avoided other offspring.
The day arrived to meet him and I turned up at the pub, initally going into the wrong bar. I quickly found the right bar with the help of direction. As I walked in, all eyes were on me, and there was a crowd of people in the corner of the bar. My father being one of them. What do you do in those situations. I just homed in on him and said "Hello Dad". Then gave him a quick hug. I'd be lying if i said there was any emotion in that embrace. This is the first time I'd met this person. He was just like a stranger. I thought he was quite nervous at first, but that all changed after the introduction. It was party time.
There's more on his life in future posts. Plus some celebrity stuff too.

The channel viewings keep on rising. Now up to 22,617.
Finally the total viewing figures for all my videos combined is 382,179.
The next song I'll be talking about is a collaboration with an extremely talented Swedish musician called "Ulf"!
84th video.
The second in a series of original songs that fell short of the "Sight Or Sound" Album. It is entitled "Movement". A friend of mine asked me to write a song that was environmental. It got me thinking. Then I decided to write something from the perspective of an animal. As animals seem to have a sixth sense about things we cannot detect on our own.
So this is what I came up with.
Jeff Edwards - Movement (Original)
This is another song that fell short of making it to the album. I felt that the other songs were of a better quality. I mentioned previously that there are 10 songs that feature on my album, that are available to listen to in full on Youtube. I have so many great comments on all of my originals on Youtube. Now a small selection of those comments have been featured on my CDBaby page. The small selection of comments are available to read at:
My Dad. Part 6.
Lulu wasn't the only celebrity my father had a dislike for. Another one was P.J.Proby. He told me that he walloped him for trying to cut in on his girlfriend. Oops :) I would imagine that that sort of thing wasn't uncommon. Maybe my father didn't like his pretentious ways. Dad said that P.J. performed on stage with those tight drainpipes on, and he inserted a piece of hosepipe into his trousers to impress the ladies. I would imagine that any of those ladies that considered that sort of thing important, must have been met with disappointment. That old saying "The truth will out" is probably the most fitting term to use.
Moving on to a tale of my Dad's D.I.Y. His sister wanted a bedroom painted, and my Dad told her that he would of course do it. For a fee. It seemed that all went smoothly. After completion she had a quick look at the room and was happy with the results. The pleasure was short lived though. A few days had gone by and because the room was freshly painted, she decided to arrange the room differently. It was then that she discovered that all he had done was painted around the furniture. Leaving large unpainted patches. I have no idea what she said to him about it afterwards. Those comments seemed to have slipped his mind.
